Our Pledge to You
To create a caring and trusting environment that fosters healthy
development and constructive education for the growing “adult”
in each child. To provide parents and primary guardians, as customers,
a reliable daily child care support network with a primary emphasis
on high-quality programs that value and respect the perspectives,
opinions and needs of each parent.
Today’s parent or guardian is becoming more aware of the
value and importance of school readiness programs. Our facility
fosters an environment where is early learning can flourish.
We adhere to guiding principles that foster respect for the diversity
of our customers, with particular attention to ethnicity, religion
and the role of caregivers. As a parent, you’ll be able to
go about your daily obligations with the knowledge and peace of
mind that your children are in the best of care.
Defining the Role of the Caregiver
Our role as caregiver is directly focused on the development of
the child through the early years. Our facility insures your child
the opportunity to learn in a free, but cooperative manner.
Each child is given the necessary behavior tools to allow self-expression,
while learning to be cognizant of the differences that make each
individual unique.
As caregivers, we must create a learning process that is both interesting
and filled with pleasant events that remain consistent with each
child’s appetite for learning.
The Importance of Your Child’s Education
Each child has the natural desire to interact with others. This
natural tendency must be nurtured. We strive to create dynamic,
interactive learning that encourages reasoning, cooperation, collaboration
and understanding on each child’s part.
The ultimate goal is the creative, emotional and educational development
of your child.
* According to one study, one-third
more “at risk” children, who attended a quality early
childhood program, went on to graduate from high school than those
who did not attend (Schweinhart, et al, 1993; Lazar, et al, 1982;
Lally, et al, 1988).
*As adults, those who attended a quality early childhood program
are three times as likely to be homeowners by age 27 (Schweinhart,
et al, 1993).
We are committed to supporting each child’s optimum social,
emotional, intellectual and physical development within a safe,
healthy and enriched environment.
Curriculum
The YMCA Preschool curriculum The Y’s Way to Creative Curriculum
in collaboration with The Creative Curriculum for Preschool www.teachingstrategies.com
outlines the six core content areas identified in The Creative Curriculum
and includes two additional areas specific to YMCAs. The content
areas of our curriculum are: Literacy; Mathematics; Science; Social
Studies; Arts; Technology; Healthy Habits; Social, Moral, and Spiritual
Development. Through these content areas YMCA preschool is ensuring
that all children in our care are able to grow in spirit, mind and
body while enrolled in the program.
