YMCA Traditional Day Camp 5-12 year olds
Summer just wouldn't’t be the same without the excitement and adventure of the YMCA Day Camp program. For 150 years, Central Virginia children have come together for a summer full of arts & crafts, field trips, games, cookouts, swimming, and making new friendships. In 2008, the spirit and tradition of the YMCA Day Camp continues with four exciting locations. Locations for 2008 are: Linkhorne Elementary, Amelon Elementary, Tye River, and Rockfish Elementaryl. YMCA Traditional Day Camp operates from 7:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday. Pre-Camp is 7:00am-8:30am and Post-Camp is 4:30pm-6:00pm. Both Pre and Post Camp are offered at no additional charge.
* Alternative pick up and drop off at the Jamerson Family YMCA 7:00 A.M. 8:30 A.M.; 5:00 P.M. - 6:00P.M. Monday thru Friday For Linkhorne Camp only. There is an additional fee of $5 per child per week for this service.

Kids Top Chef: Spend a week at camp learning the basics of cooking. We will learn measuresments and how to use kitchen tools. With the best of care, we will be making some simple but "yummy" dishes. Our field trip will be to a local grocery store. |
.Nature Zone: We will be visiting "Nature Zone" to spend time with some local "Critters". It's a jungle out there...so we will be going on nature walks to discover the great and the small. |
Celebration Elation: What holiday do you LOVE to celbrate? Your birthday? Thanksgiving? 4th of July? Well no matter what your idea of the perfect holiday is, we'll be celebrating them ALL this week of extreme partying. |
Horsing Around: Whoa! We are rounding up horse lovers for this galloping good time! Test your knowledge, discuss the different breeds, and discover all the different jobs horses can do. We are planning to visit the local horse farm, to see how they groom and take care of horses. |
In The Mix: You will have a deadline. This week you will learn how to set and print an actual newspaper, with a visit to the local newspaper and a local television station. With interviews of your fellow campers, you will have a blast doing announcements and a publishing a newsletter for camp this week. |
Hit It, Kick It, Catch It: Its time to meet and compete with all your fellow campers! Teams will create team logos, songs, cheers, and mascots to promote our pride! |
YMCA Superstars: Lights, camera, Action! This week features award winning performances as campers take center stage to spotlight their creative talents through skits, singing, dancing. |
.Bug Bonanza: Enjoy Bugs? Some fly, some crawl, some even carry their own suit if armor. Go on a bug hunt and discover why these creatures have survived for millions of years. |
That's History!!! Future historians, this camp is for you. If you want to learn about the history of Lynchburg, don't miss this week. We will be enjoying a scavenger hunt and crafts at the newlly renovated Lynchburg Museun and Point of Honor. |
All About Science: Science does not have to always be serious! If you enjoy creating crazy concoctions, you will love this week. Experiments galore; with some interesting and silly results. You might even learn something. |
