Downtown Swim Lessons

Get in the swim! Your Downtown YMCA offers nationally recognized swimming lessons for youth and adults. We have levels for participants from 6 months old to adults. Every YMCA swimming lesson is centered around 5 key components: Personal Safety, Personal Growth, Stroke Development, Water Sports and Games, and Rescue Techniques. Kids Triathlon

The YMCA of Central VA invites you and your family to participate in the 4th Annual Healthy Kids Triathlon, taking place Sunday April 22nd. It will take place in conjunction with the Angels Race at 11:00am.

 The Healthy Kids Triathlon is for children ages 6 through12, of all athletic abilities. This event emphasizes health and  self-confidence in a  fun, family friendly environment.

 This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to participate in an enjoyable learning experience though athletics

Lifeguard Classes

The YMCA Lifeguard course is designed to prepare participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard. This comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent potential hazards before they occur and how to take action to help those in danger when necessary. This course also includes American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, as well as ASHI Oxygen Administration. Birthday Parties

Give your child a Birthday Party to remember at your Downtown or Jamerson YMCA. Parties are scheduled in two-hour blocks on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. The first hour is reserved for fun in the pool, while the second hour is spent having a ball in the multipurpose room. The YMCA will provide the space for the party, a Dairy Queen ice cream cake, and a lifeguard to assist with the festivities.
